What is Alypo?

Alypo is a BitTorrent site that allows each person to manage and distribute their own content. Each person can decide the prize and the type of license they want for their own content. In Alypo all materials are legal.

How to create torrent file?

At this moment in time it is not possible to create a torrent file in Alypo. It can only be uploaded. To create torrent files it is necessary to own a BitTorrent Client. This Guide by Torrentfreak will help you to create a torrent file. Once created, you will be able to upload it in Alypo that will become your trusted tracker!

What is a .torrent file?

This is a small metadata file. Metadata here means that the file contains information about the data you want to download, not the data itself. Your BitTorrent client needs the .torrent file to connect to the tracker (see below) and download the data you want.

What are seeds?

A seed is a client that has a complete copy of the data of a certain torrent. Once your BitTorrent client finishes downloading, it will remain open until you click the Finish button (or otherwise close it). This is known as being a seed or seeding.

What are leechers?

A leecher is a client that is currently downloading a torrent. Generally a leecher does not have the complete file, otherwise it would be called a seed.

What is a tracker?

A server on the internet that acts to coordinate the actions of BitTorrent clients. When you open a torrent, your machine contacts the tracker and asks for a list of seeds and leechers to connect to.

What is the maximum torrent files dimension that I can upload?

Is each upload free in Alypo?

Yes. Every Alypo uploads are free. The important thing is that each file is licensed under creative commons and that you are the legitimate owner. All files that do not reflect these characteristics will be unquestionably deleted (please read the terms of use).

If I delete a torrent file that I have recently paid, can I recover this torrent file?

If a torrent file is free you can download it as many times as you wish. However, You have to pay again for a torrent file with a fixed prize and with donation

If the website is down does the tracker still work?

Yes. Website and tracker are two separate and independet entities, even if the website is not available the tracker will be still working allowing the download of all torrent.

Where should I insert my paypal account?

After having logged in, you just need to click on Preferences and fill the field "Your Paypal Email" and press the "Confirm" button to save your changes.

Is my file going to be still available if I delete the torrent file uploaded before?

No. When you delete a torrent file it will not be available for downloading anymore.

When I have uploaded a torrent file should I keep the torrent online?

Yes. It is a responsibility of all the users to keep their file available in order to allow other users to download and also to make sure that their work is known as fast as possible. To make the file available you only need to keep your computer on and connected to the net with your bittorrent client active.

Make sure, before making the payment, that the number of seeders (users that have the complete version of the file) and of leechers (users that are currently downloading the file) is not equal to zero. If the number of seeders are zero the download will not start. For the download to start you need at least a user connected with an active client torrent and with a complete file. Otherwise the download will not start. Alypo is not responsible for this since the torrent file is not provided by Alypo but by the person that uploaded the tracker. We strongly suggest to always pay attention to the number of seeders before making the payment.

You can only choose among creative commons license 3.0. Any other license type (including copyright) is not allowed.

Why does Alypo refuse copyright?

Alypo believes that copyright is not the best judicial form for protecting intellectual works in the internet age. Copyright is too restrictive and it doesn't allow to share files (P2P philosophy).

What is DRM? Can I use it in Alypo?

The DRM is an acronym for Digital Rights Management, a broad term used to describe a number of techniques for restricting the free use and transfer of digital content. No. In Alypo any file is DRM free that is, it doesn't have any kind of protections so that it can be used on any computer or digital player.

Can I change type of license and prize of my files at any times?

Yes. Any users can change: the category, the subcategory, the file name, the nation, the description and the type of payment at any moment, but They cannot change the type of license. Any modifications will be immediate.

Is Alypo in partnership with Paypal?

Alypo is not in partnership with Paypal. Paypal was chosen because it provides secure payment transactions in internet. Any financial problems of your account noticed in Paypal must be communicated to Paypal on its official site and not in Alypo.

What does it mean to be Verified Paypal User?

A Verification increases the security of the PayPal network. Verified members have successfully completed PayPal's Verification system to establish their identity with us.
